Sequence of Events: Saturday, 25 March 2017

0700: Arrival and set-up of USA and DEU Army static display in Nierstein 0900: HMV (Historical Motor Vehicle) convoy starts in Oppenheim 1000: HMV picks up 249th Group from Nierstein Best Western Hotel

1030: Arrival of HMV with guests at the memorial.
Mayor of Nierstein and U. S. Army representatives welcome guests Presentation of the display area (actual and Historic Military Vehicles)

1100: Monument dedication ceremony (on the barge): - Speeches (5-7 minutes each):

Mr. Gerry McCarthy, President 249 Engineer Battalion Association LTG Frederick B. Hodges, Commanding General, USAREUR
Mr. Guenter Kern, Secretary of State, Rhineland-Palatinate

- Prayer, Chaplain (COL) B. Gregory Edison, USAREUR, (transition to dedication ceremony at the monument)

- At the monument:
WWII veterans raise Flags with Color Guards in position National Anthems played
Unveiling of monument (Mrs. Luci Schey)

1230: Fly-by of vintage Piper Aircraft “Remembering Operation Grasshopper” 1240: American and German Flags cross the Rhine on a WW2 style pontoon

raft with living history groups from Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany 1250: HMV up-load the military Rhine ferry

1300-1330: Guests board military ferry and proceed to far-side bridgehead

1330-1350: Movement to the Kornsand Nazi Victims Memorial 1400-1430: Dedication ceremony with the Mayors of Trebur and Nierstein 1430-1500: Return to Nierstein via civilian ferry

1500: Socializing and buffet aboard the barge (open end).
