Mir macht was Anderes Sorgen.

Cartridge, Caliber .50, Saboted Light Armor Penetrator-Tracer, M962

Da stimmt doch was nicht. Oder irre ich mich da?

Dann halte dich mal gut fest.

Ich zitiere von der Serbu Homepage:

The RN-50 represents the first time a production firearm has ever been inspired by social media.Idiots. Designed in conjunction with YouTube celebrity Royal Nonesuch. Nonsens. A Guy who is inspired by FfS ( Friday for Shooting ) and never heared about Physical Quantities.

Ammo Suppliers:

We recommend you stay away from American Eagle in the black box, if possible. Soft brass getting stuck in the chamber and being difficult to extract has been a commonly reported problem. You're welcome to try it out for yourself, but please be aware of its issues before concluding that the rifle is to blame. Our chamber is between match and standard so certain rounds can be too large.

hab ihm mal was geschrieben ...

Hi, and glad you survived the ordeal. Apparently you did everything right after the mishap.

Which as far as I am concerned, was completely preventable. While not trying to be a smart ass here, the obvious non-grouping of the ammo should have given you reason for concern, indicating a decay of the propellant and thus extreme pressure in the cartridge. You could not know how old the ammo was and how it was stored, it was designated as an extremely hot round and the rifle you were using obviously was not built for this; furthermore its obviously deficient design would pose a very significant threat to the operator in case the excrement hit the turbo encabulator.
If you compare the Steyr HS50 to this sub par design you will notice a huge difference when comparing the breach and its sturdiness. The rifle you were using has this huge weak spot with the screw on cap, that can only fail in one direction, the threads being the weakest part.
Given the pressure required to strip them it seems pretty clear to me that the only way the pressure can expand is by propelling the screw on cap into the face of the shooter. Which in itself is a rather nasty experience, as you have found out involuntarily. Which is why over here you have to give the guns to a proofing institute which will try them out with significant overpressure to make sure that there is no such catastrophic failure.

Ok, this info does not help you in the least, but hopefully it can prevent another catastrophic experience.

Get better soon.
